I use this form of writing to tell national/regional/local interest news through the lived life of at least one individual. It is highly effective in communicating issues that affect just about everyone because it gives the reader more than just the news – it provides insight into the emotional state of the subject/subjects and humanises sometimes complex issues.

​Business
I am highly proficient in business writing and enjoy combining the human element in business journalism. However, a straight-forward business story is not beyond me.​

​Profiling
Whether it’s the CEO of a multinational, the owner of sidewalk cafe or a car guard living day to day, profiling human beings is a hugely rewarding and fascinating skill to possess. I always treat those I profile with respect, enthusiasm and understanding in order to get as deep into their lives as I can.

​Narrative Journalism
This is defined as long-form journalism and at its root is simply about storytelling, whether fact or fiction. I continue to perfect this kind of writing.

​Copy Editing
I started my career as a copy editor at one of South Africa’s most technical and news-sensitive business magazines (Farmer’s Weekly) and have, even when I write, continued to ensure the highest standard with regards to spelling, grammar and comprehension.
